Kenilworth-PETA campaign for vegetarianism in Kolkata
Kolkata, Aug 23 (UNI) The Kenilworth Hotel in association with global anti-animal cruelty campaigner PETA(People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) today resolved to campaign for vegetarianism in the city and hold a veg food festival to promote compassion to animals.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Kenilworth Hotel Anjana Bharat said, "Vegetarianism is the in-thing and it is the best way to stay healthy too." "In a world so full of cruelty we can perhaps sow the seeds of compassion by just going vegetarian, so what better way to observe that than tie up with PETA and hold a food festival to propagate our cause and belief," Ms Bharat added.
"This complete veg campaign is first of its kind in Kolkata, where PETA has joined hands with multi-cuisine hotel like us," stated Vice President-Operations of the hotel R S Singh, adding that PETA was providing them all sorts of support.
When asked why PETA opted for The Kenilworth to promote the cause of vegetarianism, Ms Bharat said,"We first took the initiative to approach them(PETA) with the idea of promoting vegetarianism and hold a four-day veg food festival from August 25 to 28 in the city, whereupon they readily agreed." " We are looking forward to the response of the festival, which will go a long way to forecast the veg trend in the city," beamed she.
Being veggie themselves, Ms Bharat and Mr Singh said they were inspired by their revered Dada J P Vaswani, who would be visiting the city soon.
