Kalam appointed first visitor of Nalanda University
Patna, Aug 23 (UNI) The Bihar government has appointed former President A P J Abdul Kalam as first visitor of Nalanda International University.
A decision to this effect was taken by the state Cabinet, said Secretary of the Cabinet Coordintion department Girish Shankar here today.
Notification in this connection would be issued soon by the state Human Resources department, he added.
In another important decision, the Cabinet gave its nod for constituion of Bihar State Disaster Management Authority.
Bihar Chief Minister would be ex-officio chairman of this committee.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters here that appointment of Dr Kalam as visitor would help in attaining the past glory of Bihar in the arena of quality education.
The acquisition of land had been completed and construction work of the university building would be initiated soon, he added.
