Jurists come forward to improve environment in Punjab
Ludhiana, Aug 23 (UNI) Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court Vijender Jain has exhorted the NGOs and other associations relating to Lawyers, Educationists, Social, Trade and Industrial to launch a concerted drive involving the people to check the fast rising menace of pollution, so that the environment could be improved.
The Chief Justice was addressing the lawyers and representatives of NGOs and other associations gathered at a function organized to launch the Ludhiana Chapter of Asia Pacific Jurist Association (APJA) here last night.
Expressing concern over the passive attitude of all the parties concerned including government machinery, industry, trade, NGOs etc.
towards aggravating problem of pollution, Chief Justice Jain said instead of indulging in 'blame-game', all should make concerted efforts for proper management of the solid waste, garbage and other land of pollution.
He said that APJA was aimed at providing a forum to the members of Legal profession and associated fields to meet, interact, cooperate and share their experience for creating awareness and enforcement and environmental laws.
He said that the APJA, along with working for the improvement in environment Justice, would create awareness among the masses to prepare a strong platform against female foeticide and other social evils.
He asked the members of the Chapter to discuss the problems threadbare and chalk out a multi-faceted program to educate the people about the serious dangers of pollution for the humanity.
