Heroin worth Rs 6.5 crore seized, drug smuggler held

Varanasi, Aug 23 (UNI) In a major catch, the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths have arrested a drug smuggler from Sigra area here and seized heroin valued at Rs 6.5 crore in the international market.

Saifuddin Ansari, a resident of Mau district of Uttar Pradesh was arrested by an NCB Lucknow team from the Kashi Roadways Bus Station last night alongwith 6.3 kg heroin, Bureau officials said here today.

The arrested drug smuggler was carrying the narcotic consignment from Jharkhand for supply to East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The arrested smuggler, hailing from Mau was produced before the court of Additional District Judge (XIV) here today.

The court sent Saifuddin to two week judicial custody at the Varanasi district jail.

The NCB team comprised Diwakar Triapathi, S K Tiwari, S K Singh and K P Tiwari.
