Former IB offcial joins Apna Dal in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Aug 23 (UNI) A former official of Intelligence Bureau joined the Apna Dal today.

Yogendra Singh, a former Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (DCIO), joined the party in the presence of National President Dr Sone Lal Patel.

The Apna Dal also organised a seminar today to mark the ninth anniversary of ''police attack'' on its cadres in 1999. ''Despite Apna Dal having permission to hold a meeting in Allahabad ahead of the 1999 elections, police used force and opened fire on our workers,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Patel also nominated former member of the subordinate services commission Dr Radheyshyam Singh as the party's new National General Secretary.

Radheyshyam Singh and Yogendra Singh were among the 17 persons who joined Apna Dal today.

Those who joined the party also included some 'active' Samajwadi Party members.
