Counting in two MC wards in Amritsar to be held tomorrow
Amrtisar, Aug 23 (UNI) The counting of votes in ward No 29 and 40, where repolling was held for Municipal Council elections on August 12, will be taken up tomorrow, DM and election officer K F Bannu said here today.
The counting will be held in a single booth with 750 vote strength in ward No 29, where district Youth Congress president Navdeep Goldy was leading by 399 votes at other booths.
In ward no 40, where counting will be held in two booths, independent candidate Kailash Kaur was leading.
Of the total 65 MC seats where polling was held on Aug 8, Congress had won 20, BJP 17, Akali Dal 15, CPI 1 and independents had won in 10 seats.
The repolling was ordered in two wards due to widespread incidents of violence and rigging.
