Consumer court asks car company to return payment to buyer

Panipat, Aug 23 (UNI) Providing relief to a car buyer, the District Consumers' Dispute Redressal Forum has ordered a car company and company's car dealer at Karnal to return the payment of Rs 16,85,883 which was paid by the buyer to purchase new Skoda car.

Amit Goyal a resident of Model Town here, purchased a Skoda car from Sidhak Automobiles, Karnal on October 31, 2006 and paid full amount.

However after some days, he found some technical problems in the car and approached the dealer.

Not satisfied with dealings of the company's outlet, he served a legal notice to the company on January 3 this year and later filed a case in the Forum on February 9.

During hearing of the case, the Forum asked the General Manager Roadways to submit technical report about the car and his report confirmed that there were some manufacturing defects in the vehicle.

After a hearing on August 20, the Forum pronounced the judgement on August 21 with the directions to the car comapny and dealer to return payments made to them within 30 days.
