Carrier signs MoU with HTP for airconditioning
New Delhi, Aug 23: Carrier Airconditioning and Refrigeration Ltd (CARL) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Haryana Technology Park (HTP) to provide 3,000 tons of energy-efficient air-conditioning equipment.
''Soon all our products will be energy-compliant and we are phasing out the non-compliant ones. Over 90 per cent of the products are already in the league,'' said Carrier India Managing Director Zubin Irani.
Its difficult to assess the worth of the MoU as of now as the project will still take two years to complete and the prices will differ, he added.
The company has about 500 dealers in the country with 345 exclusive dealers and 800 retail outlets. ''We are looking at all opportunituies of expansion and we will announce the same in the coming months,'' said Mr Irani.
The company is contemplating on opportunities of expansion and increasing production as well as the headcount.
''The airconditioning business has been growing 30 per cent evry year, with the split air-condition market growing at around 50 per cent which translates to a huge potential in the country,'' he said.
The per capita spend in India on airconditioning is around one dollar as compared to 48 dollars in the US.
The company is also looking toward increasing its market pie in the residential market. ''We are the leaders in the commercial air-conditioniong sector but we want to capture a bigger share of the residential and light airconditioning segment,'' Mr Irani said.
