Bank balances of CPSEs register sharp rise

New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) The cumulative cash and bank balances of the Central Public Sector Enterprises witnessed a sharp rise to stand at Rs 1,50,680 crore as on March 31, 2006, up from Rs 84,979 crore two years earlier and Rs 1,29,428 crore in the previous year.

There were 83 PSEs which had such balances of over Rs 100 crore, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Sontosh Mohan Dev informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply today.

The PSEs which had over Rs 10,000 crore cash and bank balances were Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (Rs 30,579 cr) and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (Rs 11,145 cr).
