25 Pakistani nationals paid compensation: Railways
New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) An ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each has been made to next of kin of 25 Pakistani nationals killed in the Samjhauta Express fire incident, Minister of State for Railways R Velu informed the Lok Sabha today.
The remaining 17 cases were under process of payment by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, Mr Velu said in a written reply.
In all, 68 passengers had lost their lives and 12 were injured.
All the injured had been paid ex-gratia. Of the deceased, 52 had been identified which include 42 Pakistani nations and 10 Indian nations.
Ex-gratia payment in case of 16 deceased passengers could be made only after their identification, he said.
