23 doctors trained to treat high altitude diseases in Leh
Jammu, Aug 23 (UNI) A team of 23 doctors, including 14 from Indian Army, has been trained to treat diseases that develop in high altitude areas in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir defence spokesman said here today.
''A special training session for doctors working in the field of high altitude diseases was conducted at High Altitude Medical Research Centre (HAMRC), Leh for a week and these doctors were fully trained,'' they said.
While citing Hypothermia, acute mountain sickness, high altitude Pulmonary Edema, high altitude Cerebral Edema and Frostbite as some of the diseases that can develop in high altitude areas, the spokesman said adding that the regiment is ready to offer their services to any organisation in the country in this direction.
