Vet officials clueless about source of flu in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 22 (UNI) The officials of the Manipur's Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department are still in the dark about the source of Avian Influenza detected last month at Chingmeirong, Imphal East.

The officials said a central team led by Dairy and Fisheries Joint Secretary AB Negi would help the state government officials to find the source of the H5NI virus. The team would visit Chingmeirong and the border areas of Manipur. Special focus would also be given to Moreh, Chandel as Indo-Myanmar trade is being carried out at Moreh.

The Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health Vinit Choudhury, Director of National Institute of Animal Health, Dr JM Kacharia, Dr AC Mishra of the National Institute of Virology, former Joint Secretary of the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory, Dr HK Pradhan and Joint Director Dr SC Dubey, Dr AG Bandhopaya of the Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Kolkata, were also likely to come to Imphal to assist the state government officials.
