VB nabs Taxation Inspector in Mandi Gobindgarh
Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 22 (UNI) A team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Taxation Inspector from his Mandi Gobindgarh office this morning in a fraud case.
Harcharan Singh Bhullar, Joint Director (Admn.) of the Bureau informed reporters that Taxation Inspector Nirmal Singh, had attested, endorsed and registered two bogus firms at Mandi Gobindgarh allegedly conniving with Narinderpal Singh owner of N.P.
Steels and Vikas Mittal of Gupta Iron and Steel Industry by taking bribes from them.
He said that during investigations it was found that the above mentioned firms were non-existing.
He alleged that the firm owners in connivance with other Excise and Taxation Officers had recorded bogus sale and purchase bills by evading taxes and causing huge losses to the state exchequer.
He said that a case under section 409, 420, 468, 467, 471, 120-B of IPC and 13(1) Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the Taxation Inspector and further investigation in this case was under progress.
