Subhash Ghai enters Marathi film industry with 'Kaande Pohe'
Mumbai,Aug 22 (UNI) Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts today announced its venture into Marathi film production with 'Kaande Pohe', a light hearted entertainer.
The film will be produced by actor Shreyas Talpade under Mukta Arts new banner 'Malpix films'.
Shreyas, with a Marathi theatre-television and film background, had attained fame by playing the protagonist in 'Iqbal' made under the showman's banner a few years ago.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Ghai said Malpix films will encourage Marathi cinema and he was indebted to Maharashtra for whatever he is today. ''Since the early days in my career, three Maharashtrians have been pillars of my success --music composer Laxmikant, screenplay writer Ram Kelkar and editor Waman Bhosale,'' he said.
He said in Shreyas he had found the right producer to handle the project. ''Shreyas is a good actor, but I have also seen that he has a bigger dimension than just acting. He knows the technology, art and commerce of movie making. Besides, he is also well versed with Marathi literature due to his theatre background,''he said.
Shreyas said the film will go on floors from September five and will be shot in Mumbai and Pune. He said he is planning a December release.
Mr Ghai said cinema speaks a global language,a good film holds no language barrier. '' The Marathi film industry is at a stage where it's ready to explode, one national award and many more to go. I am pleased to know that about 100 films are produced in Marathi every year. It is indeed a proud moment for us at Mukta Arts to be part of this movement,''he said.
The film will be directed Rajiv Patil and will have Tushar Dalvi, Shilpa Tulaskar, Subodh Bhave, Sai Tamhankar, Bharti Achrekar among the cast. The music has been scored by Avdut Gupte.
