Stg Comm resoln calls for early regularisation of unauth colonies
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) The MCD Standing Committee today passed a resolution urging the Union Urban Development Ministry to speed up the process of regularisation of unauthorised colonies so as to bring relief to the residents of these colonies from sealing of commercial units, a direction for which had been issued by the Monitoring committee last week.
A resolution in this regard was introduced in the House by Leader of the Opposition in MCD Jaikishen Sharma and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee Yogender Chandolia.
The resolution noted that sealing of commercial units in the unauthorised colonies would divest the poor and middle clas people living in these areas of their only sources of livelihood and hence sealing in these areas not be carried out.
The Monitoring Committee had on August 14 written to the MCD directing it to carry out sealing in commercial units in unauthorised colonies and in non notified areas from August 20.
The Centre and the MCD have filed affidavits in the Supreme Court urging the Court to put a halt on the sealing, mentioning that the Master Plan 2021 provides for regularisation of 1500 unauthorised colonies and that the process for their regularisation was on.
