Pre-school non-formal education to 1,18,887 children in HP

Shimla, Aug 22 (UNI) The Pre-School non-formal Education (PSE) was being provided to 1,18,887 children in the age group of 3 to 6 years in Anganwari Centres in Himachal Pradesh, Director Social Justice and Empowerment Anuradha Thakur said here today.

Mrs Thakur said Department has taken several new initiatives to improve and strengthen PSE besides sharpening the skills and overall development of children under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in the State.

She said stress was being given on cognitive, physical, social, psychological, motor skill and language development of the children.

Detailed activity based curriculum on PSE was prepared in consultation with the six best private schools of Shimla, she said.

Mrs Thakur said 100 percent training of ICDS functionaries on PSE was imparted right from the level of District Project Officers to the Anganwari workers.

The village level Coordination Committees were monitoring the project in the state and the department has undertaken a survey of ICDS Project Mashobra and Solan and found that in these circles various activities were being organised as per curriculum and had helped in overall development of the children, she added.
