Municipal corporation by-elections, rural local bodies polls

Mumbai, Aug 22 (UNI) Maharashtra State Election Commission today announced the election programme for Nanded-Vaghala Municipal corporation and 7794 gram panchayats on October seven.

Apart from these, by-elections will be held to 32 seats in Municipal corporations, 25 seats in Municipal councils. Out of the 32 seats in Municipal corporations, ten are in Nagpur and eight in Mumbai.

Elections were neccessitated in 24 seats of Municipal corporations as the elected candidates were disqualified after their caste certificates were found to be invalid.

In Municipal councils, elections have been neccessitated as 16 elected candidates were disqualified as their caste certificates were found invalid.

The process of filing of nominations for Nanded Vaghala will begin on September 12.While that for grampanchayats will begin from September 17.

The election results for gram panchayats will be declared on October nine while Nanded vaghala and other by-election results will be on October eight.
