New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today said it would reallocate to pending applicants 7371 plots in resettlement colonies whose allotment was cancelled by it yesterday after it was found that these plots were lying vacant for a long time against the rules.

Addressing reporters here, Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta said,''The MCD will reallocate the 7371 plots allocation for which was cancelled yesterday. The process for this has been initiated. People who are in the queue will now be alloted the plots.'' Earlier, raising the issue in a meeting of the Standing Committee , Leader of Opposition in the MCD Jaikishen Sharma demanded that a committee of the House be also constituted to inquire into the matter.

Additional commissioner A B Shukla said following the cancellation of the allotments, the land housing the 7371 plots was now the property of the MCD and any construction done on the same by the original allottees would amount to trespassing.

The allotment of the 7371 plots in resettlement colonies was cancelled as it was found during a survey that these plots were lying vacant for a long time against the rules.

As per the relocation policy, these plots were supposed to be occupied by the allottees within one month of allotment. But, it was found during the survey that a number of plots were lying vacant for a long time against the rules.
