Kissan Melas to educate farmers will be held in Punjab next month

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) To educate the farming community, Punjab Agriculture Department would organize five 'Kisan Awareness Melas' in the state during the next month to impart the latest know-how regarding new varieties of seeds, modified cultivation and safe use of pesticides and fertilizers for rabi crops.

Disclosing this here today, State Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langah said a team of experts from Punjab Agriculture University would provide detailed information in the melas and educate and train the farmers. Latest varieties of certified seeds would also be sold in the melas, he added.

The Kisan Mela would be held at Bullowal Sonkhery on September 6, Regional Centre Gurdaspur on September 11, Ludhiana from September 13 to 14, Patiala on September 20 and last at Regional Centre Bathinda on September 25.
