Haryana to have toll tax barriers on inter-state borders
Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to set up toll tax barriers at the inter-state borders.
''As many as nine such points have already been identified at Haryana's borders with other states and toll tax barriers would be set up shortly,'' Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters here today.
These toll tax barriers would replace the existing tax collection points on the inter-state borders, he added.
Mr Surjewala also clarified that the government had not decided to revive the post of District Transport Officers (DTOs) as specualted in the media.
The powers of the DTOs were transferred to SDMs and this system would continue to remain in force, he said.
At the district headquarters, the government had transferred these powers to City Magistrates instead of SDMs, the Minister said.
Besides, Zonal Transport Authority would be appointed at four divisional headquarters, he added.
