Haryana implements Rural Renewable Energy Programme
Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) The Haryana government is implementing a Rural Renewable Energy Programme in five villages of each district of the state.
Under the programme, a sum of Rs 7.7 crore has already been spent during the last 29 months to provide various devices of solar energy system to the people, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.
He said 800 families had been provided Solar Homelighting Systems, Solar Lanterns to 5500 families and Compact Flouroscent Lamps (CFLs) to 21,750 families besides 980 Solar Street Lighting Systems had been disbursed to the beneficiaries during the last 29 months.
Mr Chander Mohan said that Haryana had been adjudged 'Best State' in the country in implementing Rural Renewable Energy Programmes and government had also received awards in implementing Rural Renewable Energy Programmes.
He said that panchayats were playing a pivotal role in implementing the renewable energy programmes in the rural areas.
Mr Chander Mohan said a new renewable energy policy had been framed by the department under which solar heating system was imperative in all the buildings having an area of one kanal and above in Haryana Urban Development Authority sectors. Besides all the government offices would also instal the solar heating system and energy saving devices.
