Haryana: Govt departments formulate Citizens' Charters

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) As many as 98 departments and other organisations of the Haryana government have formulated their Citizens' Charters while the others are being encouraged to finalise their charters expeditiously.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that concerted efforts had been made by the Haryana Administrative Reforms Department in assisting various departments in formulating their Citizens' Charters with regard to their activities and services so as to make them more consumer friendly, improve their performance and have a sound grievances redressal system.

He said that all Head of Departments were directed to prepare annual action plans for their respective departments for the whole year and fix month-wise targets in the form of calendars of works or jobs.

Certain initiatives had also been taken by the Administrative Reforms Department for publicity, monitoring and review of Citizens' Charters, he added.

The spokesman said that State Public Information Officers or State Assistant Public Information Officer (SPIOs/SAPIOs) and first appellate authorities have been got designated in most of the departments or organisations.

District level seminars on RTI Act, 2005 had also been organised in the state so as to acquaint the people with the provisions of RTI Act, he added.
