Haryana abolishes market fees on wood
Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Market fees on all kinds of wood, except Poplar and Eucalyptus, would be abolished in the state and a separate timber market would be set up at Yamunanagar for the benefit of the plywood industry.
These decisions were taken by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during a meeting with the representatives of Haryana Timber Merchant Associations and Haryana Saw Mills Owners Association here today.
The Chief Minister said that earlier two per cent market fee was being charged on the sale of all kinds of wood and the timber associations in the state were persistently demanding is abolition.
As many as 5400 Saw Mills Owners would be benefittd with this decision, he added.
Mr Hooda said that the Haryana government had provided a number of concessions to all sections of the society including trading community, industrialists, farmers and people belonging to the weaker sections of the society and a number of ambitious schemes had been launched for them.
He said on slashing of sales tax on various items, the trading community of the state had benefitted to the tune of about Rs 60 crore.
