Govt to rationalise tax structure in Punjab, says Minister

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) The Punjab Government will shortly rationalise the total tax structure in the state, Local Government Minister Manoranjan Kalia said today.

Addressing a press conference jointly with State Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajinder Bhandari here today, Mr Kalia said that serious discussions were going on at present to rationalise the taxes in totality in order to generate revenue to carry out development of the state.

A high level meeting held here yesterday between Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Mr Bhandari discussed in depth the rationalisation of tax structure.

Mr Bhandari said the main aim of the SAD-BJP Government was to ensure development of every sector of economy and every section of society and this was possible only if the revenue was suplemented by resourses.

He said the next meeting between the Chief Minister and the BJP President will be held on August 27 in this regard.
