Globalisation impact on farmers:theme of new Kannada film

Hubli, Aug 22 (UNI) Noted literature and film director Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar said today that the theme of his new Kannada film 'Matad Matadu Mallige' revolved around the globalization effect on the farmers.

On eve of the film's release he told newsmen here addressing a press conference here he said the world premiere of the film would be held at Belgaum today.

Replying to questions on e-mail threats received by him for making a film that advocated anti-globalization, Mr Chandrashekahar said he that he did not heed to such threats.

He said the film dealt with farmer's suicides, their migration to other places and the role of multi-nationals. The film gave a clear message to the farmers on dealing with globalization.

Cine star Vishnu Vardhan who played the lead role of farmer Huvaiah in the movie, said he wanted such value based roles and was happy to work with directors like Mr Chandrasshkhar. He hoped that people would accept his role in the film saying that the role he played this time was totally different from the roles played by him earlier.

Producer of the film Manju who was also present declared that he would contribute financially to the families of farmers, who committed suicide from the profit he earned from the movie.
