EC concerned over use of money, muscle power in polls

Aligarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Election Commissioner Navin Chawla today said there was an urgent need to ponder over the use of money and muscle power in election.

The political parties ought to make efforts to put a halt to this distressing phenomenon, Mr Chawla said addressing a function at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) here.

He said a comprehensive drive was underway to curb discrepancies in electoral rolls and Election Photo Identity Cards.

A suggestion for photo electoral rolls had been sent to the Home Ministry, he informed.
