Nagpur, Aug 22 (UNI) Realty major DLF will invest Rs 1,700 crore in its 8.5 million square feet information technology (IT) park project in Nagpur.

Speaking to reporters after the foundation stone laying ceremony DLF Commercial Developers Executive Director (Offices) Y K Tyagi said, ''The IT park is being constructed in the multi-product special economic zone (SEZ), which is a part of the Multi-Modal International Air Passenger and Cargo Hub at Nagpur (MIHAN) project coming up in the city.'' ''DLF is constructing IT parks in 11 other cities in the country, but the one coming up in Nagpur, located on 140 acres of land, would be the largest,'' Mr Tyagi said.

''Actual work is expected to start within two weeks and the project will be completed within three years. It is expected to generate over one lakh jobs,'' Mr Tyagi said.

Replying to questions, Mr Tyagi said the company was thinking of constructing a large township and a retail mall in Nagpur, but things have not been finalised yet.

''We have looked at two or three proposals but things will be finalised only over the next two or three months,'' he added.

Mr Tyagi said four of the company's IT parks, at Pune, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Chennai, are expected to become functional by next month, with clients moving in.
