Court summons Narayanamurthy to appear on Sept 19 on Anthem issue

Mysore, Aug 22 (UNI) A Mysore Court has ordered issuance of summons to Infosys Technologies Limited Chief Mentor Narayanamurthy on a petition filed by former Karnataka Minister K N Nanjegowda about alleged 'Dishonouring National Anthem'.

Second Judicial Magistrate First Class Court Judge G Badami has directed Mr Narayanamurthy to appear before him on September 19.

In his petition, Mr Nanjegowda has alleged that Mr Narayanamurthy had shown disrespect to the National Anthem during the visit of the then President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to Infosys Campus in April Eight 2007.

It may be recalled here that, on April 14 the Karnataka High Court Judge Justice K Bhakthavatsala, allowing a criminal petition filed by Mr Narayanamurthy seeking quashing proceedings initiated against him before the second additional chief metropolitan Court, Bangalore, about 'dishonouring National Anthem, took cognance of a complaint filed by Kannada Rakshna Vakilara Vedike, quashed the case stating that he (Mr Narayanamurthy) has not committed any violation of the act and nowhere playing National Anthem through instrument was offensive.
