Cash and jewelry stolen from Ranganathaswamy temple
Mysore, Aug 22 (UNI) In a major theft, cash and jewelry worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from the famous Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangapatna, 15 km from here last night.
Police said today that the theft came to light this morning when the priest opened the door for performing the puja.
The hundi of the temple was found abandoned behind the temple.
The miscreants have taken away cash and jewelry offered by the devotees. It was also suspected that the miscreants might have remained inside the temple when it was closed last night.
Top police officials visited the spot and further investigation is on.
