BJP cautions Govt against demolition of Ram Setu
New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) The BJP today cautioned the UPA Government against demolition of the Ram Setu while going ahead with its Setu Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project.
The party claimed it had reliable information that the government had deployed navy divers to detonate the Ram Setu to clear way for the Sethusamudaram Project.
''The Government cannot play with the sentiments of 100 crore Hindus in the country. The government will be responsible for the consenquences if it demolished the historic bridge,'' BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said.
He said the party had decided to launch a 'Satyagrah' tomorrow with scores of people and saints sitting on a dharna at Jantar Mantar.
He said the BJP along with the Ram Setu Samiti would also lead a delegation to impress upon Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to adopt an alternative route for the Sethusamudram Project to save the mythical bridge constructed by monkey warriors of Lord Rama.
