116 talukas in Guj get moderate to heavy rains

Gandhinagar, Aug 22 (UNI) During the past 24 hours, there has been moderate to heavy rainfall in 116 talukas of north Gujarat with Kapadvanj of Kheda district receiving 84 mm, Balasinor (75 mm), Gandhinagar (78 mm) and Bayad of Sabarkantha district receiving 76 mm.

According to emergency response centre of the State Meteorological Department, 14 talukas received two to three inches and 98 talukas received half to one inches of rainfall.

Ahmedabad (47 mm), Devgadhbaria of Dahod district (55 mm), Dehgam of Gandhinagar (55 mm), Kalyanpur of Jamnagar (56 mm), Virpur of Kheda district (46 mm), Kathlal (53 mm), Godhra of Panchamahal district (52 mm), Dhansura of Sabarkantha district (65 mm), Talod (62 mm), Meghraj (60 mm), Prantij (55 mm), Idar (53 mm), Modasa (50 mm) and Himmatnagar received 48 mm of rainfall.

More than one inch of rainfall was recorded in 45 talukas including Dholka, Mandal, Liliya, Mahuwa, Dhanpur, Fatehpura, Manasa, Kalol, Bhanwad, Jamnagar, Jodia, Khambhalia, Bhensan, Una, Visavadar, Kheda, Mahudha, Matar, Thasara, Anjar, Gandhidham, Becharaji, Kadi, Satalasana, Ghoghamba, Halol, Lunawada, Morwahadaf, Shehra, Kadana, Santarampur, Radhanpur, Morbi, Maliyamiyana, Bhiloda, Khedbramha, Malpur, Vadali, Vijay Nagar, Umarpada, Dhrangadhra, Halwad, Lakhtar and Quant, while Bharuch and Dang districts remained dry.

86 reservoirs including 19 of Central, three of Kachch and 64 of Saurashtra regions have been overflowing following rains.

High alert has been sounded by the flood control room to 117 reservoirs filled up to 90 to 100 per cent, 21 reservoirs filled up to 80 to 90 per cent and 13 reservoirs filled up to 70 to 80 per cent.
