Western Union customer contact campaign touches 7.5 cr
Ahmedabad, Aug 21 (UNI) ''We run the largest rural marketing campaign in India. In the first half of this year we have achieved Seven-and-half crore customer contacts,'' said Western Union Services India Marketing Director (South Asia) Suvodeep Das.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Mr Das said, ''The Western Union Company is a leading provider of global money transfer services that allow customers and businesses to send or receive funds at more than 3,05,000 agent locations in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. There are over 40,400 Western Union agent locations in India across more than 4,000 towns, cities and villages.'' He further said, ''The advantages of using the Western Union Money Transfer service are that the our agents have been authorized by the Reserve Bank of India that will ensure customers' receipt of money within minutes. The Union offers convenience to customers world-wide. Money can be received quickly as the Union has a world-wide agent network of banks, currency exchanges, post offices, travel agencies, food stores, couriers, check cashiers, railway stations and even airports.'' Comparing Union facility with bank drafts, Mr Das observed, ''A draft, even in city banks, can take from two to four days and in case it is outside city limits than it can take upto 15 days. The Union is very helpful to poor people staying in far flung areas or in the border area where they receive money quickly.'' In Gujarat, Union has over 3,000 agent locations which include over 400 post offices and branches of Banks like Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank. These agent locations are present across 500 cities, towns and villages all over Gujarat.
