Tokyo stocks extend gains as Sony, exporters rise

TOKYO, Aug 21 (Reuters) The Nikkei average extended gains on Tuesday, with exporters such as Sony Corp. advancing their winning-streak following a rise in U.S. blue-chip and European stocks.

The benchmark Nikkei average rose 0.3 percent or 41.38 points to 15,773.86 as of 0001 GMT.

The benchmark had jumped 3 percent to 15,732.48 in the previous session -- its biggest one-day percentage gain in 13 months.

The broader TOPIX index added 0.6 percent to 1,532.88.
