Rs 1469 Crore outlay approved for NCR for 2008-09

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) An outlay of Rs 1469 crore was today approved by the National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board for providing loan assistance to the participating states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and NCT of Delhi.

The outlay will be utilised for undertaking studies, surveys and meeting expenses incurred in preparation of sub-regional plans and functional plans in these states, Urban Development Minister S.Jaipal Reddy, who chaired the meeting, said.

The meeting also approved the borrowing programme of Rs 900 crore for the above purposes. The Board approved the propose financing plan for the 11th Five year Plan involving loan assistance of Rs 11,000 crore for infrastructure projects for which the Board will be accessing funds to the extent of Rs 8,000 crore from International Aid Agencies like World Bank and Asian Development Bank.

The Meeting also reviewed the progress of preparation of sub-region plans for different sub-regions of the NCR viz. U.P sub-region consisting of five districts, Haryana Sub-region comprising eight districts and Alwar district of Rajasthan besides NCT of Delhi.

The State governments expressed their commitment to implement the plan in right earnest so as to make joint efforts for accelerating the development of the NCR.

The Meeting was attended by Commnication and Information Technology MInister A.Raja, Delhi's Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Haryana Chief Minister B.S.Hooda, UP Housing Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, and Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration and Development Minister Jayant Malaiya, among others.
