Opposition moves notice expressing no-confidence in J'khand Speaker
Ranchi, Aug 21 (UNI) The corruption issue that crippled the Assemmbly proceedings for the past two days in Jharkhand today took a new turn with the Opposition filing a notice expressing no-confidence in Speaker Alamgir Alam.
BJP's Saryu Rai led an eleven-member team to Assembly Secretariat to hand over the notice and demanded a reply regarding hearing on this issue within 14 days.
As the House reassembled after the recess, the Speaker replied to the Opposition query over their notice, saying he had not seen it and would take a decision only after perusing the same.
The Opposition, in their notice, stated that the Speaker, the custodian of the House, was trying to take the side of Chief Minister Madhu Koda on the corruption charge.
Since yesterday, the Opposition pressed hard for a reply from Mr Koda regarding a news item, published in local Hindi daily. The daily said one Binod Sinha had collected more than Rs 200 crore from the market in the name of the Chief Minister during the past few months.
They alleged that the Speaker also tried to save Mr Sinha.
