M C Bhandare sworn in as new Governor of Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and lawyer Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare was today sworn in as the new Governor of Orissa.

Orissa High Court Chief Justice Ashok Ganguly administered the oath of office to Mr Bhandare at a brief function in the Raj Bhawan here.

Later, Orissa Police presented a guard of honour to the Governor.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, most of his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker Maheswar Mohanty, Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy, Director General of Police Amarananda Patnaik and some top bureaucrats were present at the function.

Mr Bhandare succeeded Mr Rameshwar Thakur, who became the Governor of Karnataka.
