Jet to launch new service between New Delhi, Toronto

Chennai, Aug 21 (UNI) Private airline major Jet Airways will start a new service between New Delhi and Toronto via Brussels from September five.

Jet Airways Vice-President (Marketing) Gaurang Shetty told reporters here today that another service between Chennai and Newark and J F Kennedy airport in the US via Brussels would be launched by the end of October.

The Delhi-Toronto service would be followed by Mumbai-San Fransisco flight via Shanghai in the beginning of the winter schedule of 2007-08.

As the airlines was acquiring more wide-bodied aircrafts, in the next one year, Jet would be connecting more cities in north America like Toronto, JFK and San Fransisco.

In Asia, Hong Kong and Shanghai will come online. Also on the anvil was Mumbai-Johannesberg thrice a week.

''With Brussels as the hub, flights would be synchronised to provide passengers seamless transfer access between Delhi and Newark and Mumbai and Toronto,'' he said.

Progressively, the airlines would link cities like Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad with New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Vancouver.

Jet Airways also plans to upgrade the Boeing 737s to wide-body on sectors like Mumbai-Singapore, Chennai-Singapore and Chennai-Kuala Lumpur.

Of the 10 Boeing 737-300 ERs that had been ordered, two were already delivered and were flying on the twice-daily services on the Mumbai-London route.

Earlier, Mr Shetty unveiled the airlines' new first class suite and premier class on its Boeing 777-300 ERs offering flat beds, internet connectivity and in-house entertainment.
