JD(S) was also to face elections if forced on us: CM

Bangalore, Aug 21(UNI) Maintainging a stoic silence on transfer of power to be effected on October three to the BJP, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumarasamy today indicated that the Janata Dal (Secular) will not hesitate to face the eletions ''if things were forced on it''.

Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the swearing in ceremony of new State Governor C P Rameshwar Thakur, the Chief Minsiter said "an unnecessary confusion has been created over the issue of transfer of power to coalition partner BJP in October".

While advising the media to wait until October two Mr Kumaraswamy discounted rumours that JD(S) would ditch the BJP at the last minute and deny Chief Ministership to the party.

However referring to Congress leaders statements to face elections Mr Kumaraswamy asserted that "if things were forced on us we will not hesitate to go before the people seeking fresh mandate".

On the appointment of new Karnataka Governor, Mr Kumaraswamy said that the Union Home Minister Mr Shivaraj Patil had informed him about it a couple of days before. "The new governor has rich experience of administration behind him and the state shall immensly benefit of it" he said.
