India and world can together mitigate economic poverty: Ambani
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani today said the poor in India and the world urgently need the participation and intervention of the resource rich to mitigate both their threats and vulnerabilities.
''We need to transform India and vision needs to be wholistic where people can access all opportunities, hence bring about a rapid socio-economic change,'' Mr Ambani said during the 6th Darbari Seth Memorial Lecture organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
A new development model based on a comprehensive vision, exemplary leadership and extraordinary execution, is required in partnership with organisations like TERI to address issues like energy and food security and poverty alleviation, he added.
Reliance Industries is also a member of TERI - Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD), an independent and credible platform initiated by TERI for Corporate leaders to address issues related to sustainable development, environmental management, social responsibility and economic performance.
