IAF officer awarded 5 years RI for links with ISI
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge V K Goel today sentenced to five years imprisonment Hari Om Sharma, Indian Air Force officer, posted at Palam, after convicting him for espionage.
Sharma was caught red-handed on September 5, 2002 while he was going to hand over classified documents to Pakistani officials. The prosecution said he was in touch with ISI agents during the period 2000-02.
Mr Sharma was found guilty under Sections 3 and 9 of Official Secrets Act and Section 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code and was awarded five years Rigorous Imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7500.
