Haryana urges an international airport at Bahadurgarh
New Delhi Aug 21 (UNI) Haryana Chief MInister Bhupinder Singh today urged the Union Government to sanction an international airport at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district.
Speaking at the 30th meeting of National Capital Region Planning Board here, Mr Hooda said that the aviation sector had witnessed phenomenal growth in the last few years.
In spite of the upgradation of present Indira Gandhi International Airport, it would fall far short of the future requirements of the NCR. There is a definite need to have an additional airport in the vicinity of Delhi, he said, adding that his government had submitted a proposal for an airport at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district which would have excellent connectivity with Delhi and other areas of NCR through the KMP Expressway.
He urged the Board to impress upon the Ministry of Civil Aviation for early sanctioning of this project.
The Chief Minister also urged the NCR Board to incorporate the road connecting Gurgaon-Mehrauli road near Sector 26, Gurgaon with Mahipalpur Qutab road, near junction with Nelson Mandela road and linking Holambi Kalan in Delhi with Kundli in Sonepat via village Bakhtawarpur in Delhi and village Janti Kalan in Haryana in Zonal Plan of Delhi Government.

Similarly, there is a dire need to connect Faridabad town with Taj Expressway to provide for an alternative route to Agra, he noted.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for strengthening the road infrastructure in NCR Sub Region of Haryana as it would be helpful and it would prove a vital importance for economic development and growth of other sectors also.
He said that besides the roads of the states in NCR Sub Region are acting as corridor routes and cater to high intensity of traffic in terms of volume and axle load.
Mr Hooda was of the view that the level crossings are being seen as serious bottlenecks in the smooth flow of traffic causing loss of vehicle hours and fuel.
"Remedy lies in providing Railway Over Bridges which should receive due attention'', he said and demanded that the widening and strengthening of Palwal-Sohna-Rewari road (NH-71B) be taken up on priority basis.
He also impressed upon early finalisation of functional plans on transportation so that all these issues could be addressed soon.
Referring to the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, which were in the process of execution, he stressed the need for faster movement through rail also.
Noting the Ministry of Railways had asked the State Governments to share the project cost of putting up new railway lines such as Rohtak-Rewari and Sonipat-Jind Railway lines in Haryana, the Chief Minister urged the NCRB to bear the entire cost of such projects.
Besides fast connections from Delhi to Panipat, Rewari, Palwal and Rohtak, there was need to provide a new concept of orbital rail along KMP and Eastern Peripheral Expressways as it would open new avenues of development, he added.
To ease the traffic in the NCR areas, Mr Hooda urged the Chairman to take decision about the free movement of vehicles so that transportation could be eased in the NCR area.
He reminded that at present there were bottlenecks in fast movement of traffic in CNCR because of inter state restrictions.
