Flights to Port Blair suffer delay due to bad weather

Chennai, Aug 21 (UNI) A Port Blair-bound Jet Airways flight from Chennai returned here this morning, while the departure of two other flights was delayed due to bad weather in Port Blair.

Airport sources said the Jet Airways flight with 151 passengers on board left for Port Blair at 0530 hrs, but could not land there due to heavy rain and strong winds. It returned to Chennai around 1000 hrs and the passengers were accommodated in a hotel.

An Air Deccan flight, with 165 passengers, could not take off at the scheduled time of 0720 hrs due to bad weather. The passengers were then accommodated in hotels.

Similarly, the departure of an Indian flight for Port Blair, scheduled to leave at 0500 hrs, was delayed.

All the three flights would leave for Port Blair after the weather condition improved there.
