Congress MLA Nasim Khan is the People's MLA; award

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) Former minister and Congress MLA Mohammed Arif Nasim Khan was today felicitated with the 'People's MLA award' by The College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan.

Khan, who represents Kurla Constituency in Mumbai suburbs, was handed over a memento by Dr Patangrao Kadam, state Minister for Co-operation, Rehabilitation and Relief Work, at a function here.

Khan is the first politician to be given this award for the services rendered by him towards the flood affected people in his constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr, Ms Mary Alphonse, Principal of the College, said their institute has conducted a survey of all the 34 MLAs in Mumbai and reached the conclusion that Khan deserved the award. Earlier, Khan was also given a award for maintaining peace during the 1992-93 communal riots in the metropolis by the Tata Institute of Social Work at the hands of cine thespian Dilip Kumar.
