Acid attack victim dies after 12-day battle for life

Bangalore, Aug 21 (UNI) Losing a 12-day battle for life, Heena Fathima (23), who had sustained 90 per cent burns following an acid attack by her husband, succumbed to injuries at Victoria hospital in the city today.

Heena, belonging to Mysore, had to face the wrath of her husband, who was an alcoholic, for not paying him money to buy liquor.

On the fateful day, when she refused to give him money, he threw acid on her and also allegedly forced her to drink liquor laced with acid.

The woman sustained grievious injuries and was hospitalised in Mysore. When her condition deteriorated was shifted to Bangalore.

The body was taken to Mysore for last rites.
