UP issues GO to abolish various urban and rural local body posts
Lucknow, Aug 20 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today issued notification on the ordinance issued to abolish the posts of deputy mayor, vice-chairman of district panchayat, deputy gram pradhan and deputy block pramukh in the state.
According to sources, the state government issued the government order(GO) after the Governor gave his approval to the ordinance abolishing the posts.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) had raised objection for abolishing the posts of deputy mayor, vice-chairman of district panchayat, deputy block pramukh and deputy gram pradhan. The party had also met the Governor over the issue.
With this new GO, now posts of 13 deputy mayors, 70 vice-chairman of the Zila panchayat, 820 deputy block pramukh and 52002 deputy gram pradhan would be abolished in the state.
