ULFA lobs grenade in front of AASU office

Guwahati, Aug 20 (UNI) Suspected ULFA militants today lobbed a grenade near the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) office at Moran in Sivasagar district of Upper Assam.

According to eyewitnesses, two suspected motorcycle-borne ULFA militants sped past the area and hurled the grenade near the AASU office located in the heart of Moran under Moranhat police station at around 1230 hrs. The grenade, however, did not explode.

A considerable number of residents of the area were Hindi-speaking.

Police officials have rushed to the spot and investigation was on.
