Two Forest guards injured in exchange of fire with poachers
Mysore, Aug 20 (UNI) Two Forest Guards were injured in exchange of fire between the forest officials and poachers at Nagarahole forest range near Antarasanthe in Mysore District in the early hours of today.
Official sources said that on getting information from one of the five squads on night duty about spotting poachers, Deputy Conservator of Forests Singh launched an operation. The Poachers on seeing the squad started firing and it was returned. However, the culprits managed to escape in the forest under the cover of darkness.
Injured guards, who sustained bullet injuries, were first treated at H D Kote government hospital and shifted the K R Hospital here.
Their condition was stated to be out of danger.
Last week in a local tribal was killed in an exchange of firing between forest guards and poachers.
