Army nab suspected Qaeda terrorists in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 20: Altogether 15 people suspected to be linked with al Qaeda have been nabbed by the army at Manipur-Myanmar border areas at Moreh, Chandel district, on August 17, sources today said.

Both the army and police were tight-lipped on the matter. However, sources said the suspected terrorists were yet to be handed over to the Manipur police. The sources added that they were likely to be handed over to Manipur police for necessary verification.

The suspected terrorists were from Bangladesh and Myanmar and interrogations were still going on, sources said. Foreign currency and documents from several countries were also recovered from them.

Meanwhile, the PIB(Defence Wing) today said the Self-Styled Commander-in-Chief of a new militant outfit, the United Bengal Revolutionary Army was also nabbed at Silchar, Assam recently.

Superintendent of Police of Thoubal S Ibocha said three cadres of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), who were involved in collecting funds, were also nabbed from Thoubal district yesterday.
