Tourism fair promises massive tourist arrival in HP

Shimla, Aug 20 (UNI) The three-day travel and tourism fair held at Netaji Indoor Stadium Kolkata provided a big boost to tourism promotion activities in Himachal Pradesh.

About one lakh tourists from West Bengal and other states have registered in the fair for visiting the state during Durga Pooja festival this year, a government spokesman said here today.

The tourists from different parts of the country and as well as other countries showed interest in visiting tribal areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti, he said.

He said documentaries depicting the rich culture and various tourist destinations of Himachal Pradesh were shown in Himachal Pavilion set up by the State Tourism Department and HPTDC.

He further said detailed information regarding the efforts of state government for promoting tourism activities and facilities being provided to the tourists was provided to the visitors in the Himachal Pavilion.

Pavilions were set up by of 24 States and most Union Territories as well by some foreign nations, in the fair, he added.
