TN Govt appealed to recruit 5,000 VAOs

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 20: The Tamil Nadu Village Administrative Officers (VAO) Association today appealed to the State Government to recruit 5,000 VAOs through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

In a statement here, Association State President R Bose said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the Association's State office bearers meeting here yesterday.

He said the Government had ordered to fill up 2,500 VAO posts as against the existing 4,500 vacancies, which would go up to 5,000 by this year-end.

The meeting urged the Government to regularise all the temporary VAOs, increase their retirement age to 60 years and provide basic amenities to VAO offices and mobile phone facility to all VAOs.
